    Explanation:in this process the cell divides into two identical cells called the daughter cells. the daughter cells end up with the same amount of chromosomes in their nucleus like the parent cells.

    Mitotic division involves four stages; prophase, metaphase, anaphase and telophase.

    In prophase, the chromosomes shorten and thicken. homologous chromosomes join to become chromatids

    In metaphase, the chromatids arrange themselves at the equator of threadlike spindle fibres

    In anaphase, the chromatids separated and move to opposite ends of the cell

    In telophase, the spindle break down, the chromosomes lengthen and the cytoplasm of the cell divides into two.

    this leads to growth and replacement of cells
