The stimulus can be detected by the presence of different sensory receptors in the body. The sensory neurons transmit this information to the brain and spinal cord.

The action potential is generated for the transmission of the nerve impulse. After the action potential generation, the information needs to be send back to the brain. The brain transmit this information and can be sensed by the receptors that the extreme pain is present in left foot.
