Sporophyte stage in the life cycle of a plant in which the plant produces spores for reproduction.

    Explanation:

Sporophyte stage is responsible for the production of spores. In spores, the cells are diploid i. e. double number of chromosomes. After sporophyte, gametophyte stage occurs in which male and female gametes are produced from the spores in the process of meiosis. In this process, haploid cells i. e. half number of chromosome are produced.
