Hemophilia is a negative genetic mutation because it causes a serious disease. Why do you think this gene mutation still persists in our genome?

    It is a recessive trait, so women can be carriers and not know about it. Also, males who have the disease can still pass on the genes to their daughters, making them carriers.

    Hemophilia is a recessive gene.

    Explanation:

    Recessive genes may be carried through several generations but are not express. Hemophilia is a sex link that travels in the X chromosome. If a male inherits an X chromosome he may express hemophilia. Women have a pair XX chromosomes and they may express the disease but is much rarer. If one of the X chromosomes contains the hemophilia gene but the other does not the disease does not appear.
