According to atmospheric temperature and CO2 concentration records derived from Antarctic ice cores, Earth's climate has undergone significant changes over the past 200,000 years. Two graphs are shown below. The upper graph shows the variation of atmospheric CO2 concentration, and the lower graph shows the air temperature. Both graphs cover the same period from approximately 200,000 years ago up until the year 1950, which is represented by year 0 on the graphs.

Answer both of the questions below:

A) What happens to the air temperature when there is a rise in CO2 concentration in the graph? How do you know?

B) What are 3 consequences that can come from the rising temperature and CO2 concentration?

    A) The temperature of the air increses with rise in the CO2 concentration in the graph.

    Explanation:

    This is because the upper graph of time against CO2 concentration shows a rising concentration of CO2 with time, and in the lower graph, the air temperature also rise with time.

    B) Three problem with rising temperature and CO2 concentration include:

    - melting solar caps

    - rising sea level due to melting solar caps

    - coastal flooding due to rising sea level.
