As per Charles, the slow and little contribution of continuous geological events shaped the present geological attributes of the earth. Likewise Charles Darwin's theory of evolution also earmarked accumulated effects of small gradual changes over immense spans of time. They both believed that continuous and gradual change is law of nature.
