Which one of these scenarios most likely uses facilitated transport to move molecules across the cell membrane? A) Oxygen moves from high to low concentration across the phospholipid bilayer. B) K + moves from low to high concentration using a membrane protein. C) Glucose moves with the concentration gradient from high to low concentration using a membrane protein. D) Ca+2 ions move against the concentration gradient through a gated channel to initiate an action potential.

    C) Glucose moves with the concentration gradient from high to low concentration using a membrane protein.

    Explanation:

Facilitated transport is a type of passive transport where the molecules move from region of high concentration to low concentration. Since they are moving along the concentration gradient, energy is not required for the process. But it does require some special membrane proteins hence the term "facilitated". The proteins are required for movement of large and polar molecules because even their diffusion is difficult through the non polar lipid layer of membrane.

Here, glucose is moving from high to low concentration so it's diffusion but it is using membrane protein because it is polar hence it is facilitated diffusion transport.
