Meiosis results in independent assortment of maternal and paternal chromosomes. If 2n = 6 for a given organism and there is no crossing over, what is the chance that a gamete produced by this diploid organism will receive only paternal chromosomes?

    Given that 2n = 6 for a given organism. After meiosis, n = 3. Since n = 3, it means the zygote has a haploid chromosome from one of the parents! Since the zygote has to be diploid, so it will need another haploid (n) chromosome from the other parent hence there'll be a 50% chance of being a maternal or paternal chromosome and a 0% chance of it being only a paternal chromosome ...

    I might not be % sure but I'm at least 40% sure of this answer
