Excess plasma lipids in the form of cholesterol contribute to the formation of atherosclerotic plaques within blood vessel walls. Which of the following is NOT a likely consequence of such plaques?

turbulent blood flow around the plaque

increased pressure due to a loss of elasticity in the vessel wall

    All of the above.

    Step-by - step Explanation:

When there is excess of plasma lipid in blood in the form of cholesterol, it combines with calcium and other components present in the blood to form plaques within the arteries. These plaques are termed as atherosclerotic plaques that narrow down the arteries and the condition is called atherosclerosis. Decrease in diameter of the arteries provide a higher resistance to the blood flowing in it and also a turbulance in the flow occurs as the plaque acts as an obstruction in the flow of blood. Deposition of the plaque greatly reduces the elasticity of the arterial wall thus a tension on the arterial wall develops resulting in High blood pressure (Hypertension)
