    The main purpose Ramsar Convention is to protect and preserve the wetlands.

    Explanation:

    Ramsar in a location in Iran. In 1971, an international treaty was signed for the protection, conservation, and use of wetlands in a sustainable manner. Wetlands are water filled area having diverse population of plants and animal species. They in rich in both the aquatic and terrestrial plant and animal species. In order to protect these biological hotspots the Ramsar Convention Treaty was signed.
