    In cystic fibrosis the lungs and the digestive system get effected. It causes the CFTR protein (Cystic Fibrosis Transmembrane conductane Regulator) to become dysfunctional. Due to this dysfunction, chloride become unable to move. for this reason mucus clogs the airways in the lungs which leads to respiratory failure and other complications. The gene responsible of this disease located at the long arm of chromosome number 7. Of all ethnic groups, caucasians have the highest inherited risk of this disease.
