Why do most viral diseases stop at the first step?

    Because of the immune system-it is designed to watch, recognize, and even remember the virus and take action to destroy it, when a virus invades healthy cells. The immune system releases chemicals that trigger virus fighting cells which are then sent to wipe out the enemy.
