The properties of a compound depend on the size of the molecule, and not the component elements

    D

    Explanation:

The individual properties of the atoms of a compound do not matter anymore because the combined effect of their interactions results completely different properties. The types of bonds formed and the ratio of the elements in the compound, for example, have a huge effect on the properties of the compound. An example is water that is liquid at room temperature while its constitute atoms (those of Hydrogen and Oxygen) are gaseous at room temperature.
