lants and animals do not operate independently of one another. In fact, it is how these organisms interact that often defines form and function. Ecology is the branch of biology that focuses on these species interactions with each other in the habitats that they live. In light of the many human induced changes to the environment, it would be impossible to study ecology without accounting for anthropogenic effects. Assume you are an ecologist studying local flora and fauna in San Diego. Describe the effects of human development in a local habitat (e. g. coastal, desert, chaparral, grassland, wetland, etc.). How will continued global climate change effect species adapted to a specific environment

The development of human beings exhibits a deleterious influence on the native habitat, fauna, and flora of any specific region. Usage of forest land and urbanization has resulted in habitat destruction and habitat fragmentation. This is one of the prime reasons for the loss of biodiversity.

The humans usually present exotic alien species like some kind of weeds that seem beautiful into a new region. These species are usually invasive in nature and exhibit a threat to the native biodiversity of the region. The overexploitation of natural resources is also a prime way by which humans are affecting native habitat and biodiversity.

The spontaneous change in climate is resulting in global warming, increased temperatures, increased natural disasters, and depletion of the ozone layer. The species amended with a particular environment will not possess the tendency to tolerate temperatures after a certain limit. This results in the death of the species, or they try to migrate. Some of the species may evolve and adapt to the fluctuating environment, however, this is a gradual and uncertain procedure.
