    A gene may have two or more alleles. Irrespective of the total number of alleles, the sum total of frequencies of all the possible alleles for a gene present in the population is always 1. If a gene has two alleles and the frequency of one allele of the gene in a population is p and that of another allele is q, their total frequency would be one.

    So, if the frequency of one allele is = 0.6

    Frequency of another allele would be = 1-0.6 = 0.4
