ATP used as an active energy source over glucose because it is more efficient.

    Explanation:

The Adenosine triphosphate molecule or its more usable short form ATP is a prominent and perhaps primary energy source in the cellular system and the function of extracellular energy transfer.

ATP is efficient in transporting and storing chemical energy within cells.

This is rather different considering that the glucose molecule actually possesses more energy. ATP has less energy but can use it more judiciously ad effectively than the other. It is thus more usable and is also used in the treatment of Nucleic acids.
