What strand in DNA is used to synthesize mRNA?

    MRNA is made from a DNA template, and DNA is double-stranded. During transcription, the "template strand" is the DNA strand that is the complement of the mRNA. The "coding strand" is the DNA strand that has the same sequence (DNA ATTGC would be RNA AUUGC) as the mRNA transcript.
