The wide range of possible threats has affected the blanding's turtle population are loss and degradation of wetland and terrestrial habitats, road mortality and collection.

    Explanation:

Destruction and reduction of wetlands can increase risks of mortality for adults and reduce the hatching process. Cultivating the wetlands and the rapid use of fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides washes degrade aquatic habitats. The roads and other human activities impacts more on females than males due to their extensive nesting migrations. It affects the nesting areas and aquatic habitats. Pet trade also result in severe reductions and eradication of populations.

In 2009, it was found that 81.2 % of clutches sampled were of turtles. The evidence also shows that female Blanding's turtles store sperm for later use.
