Describe the theory of plate tectonics and how it explains the presence of fossils from the same plants and animals in locations separated by great distances and large bodies of water

The theory begins with the continents beginning as one united land mass called Pangea. When the tectonic plates began to move these land masses apart the plants and animals that were on them were separated around the world, but they all began on the same land mass so that is why they are so similar.
