    Answer no 1:

Carbohydrates are joined together by peptide bonds - False

Carbohydrates can be described as essential biomolecules which are made up of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen mainly. Carbohydrates are joined by a covalent bond which is termed as glycosidic bond. The glycosidic bond is also referred to as the glycosidic linkage. Hence, the statement is false. However, peptide bonds are formed in amino acids.

    Answer no 2:

A disaccharide is an example of a carbohydrates - True

As explained in answer no 1, carbohydrates are vital biomolecules which are made by glycosidic bonds. Sugars are a type of carbohydrates. A disaccharide is a sugar molecule which is formed when two monosaccharides join together. Examples of disaccharides include the sugars, lactose, sucrose etc.

    Answer No 3:

Monosaccharides are made of polysaccharides - False

Polysaccharides can be described as large biomolecules which are made up of smaller units. These smaller units are the monosaccharides. Polysaccharides are polymeric carbohydrates. The glycosidic linkage joins the monosaccharides which form the polussacharides. Examples include cellulose, chitin etc

    Answer No 4:

Monosaccharides have to be broken down many times during digestion - False

As monosaccharides are not made up of many sub units like disaccharides and polysaccharides, hence they do not need to be broken again and again during digestion. Their hydrolysis is easier as compared to the dissacharides and polysaccharides.

    Answer No 5:

Polymers are made of monomers - True

A monomer can be described as simple structure which joins to other identical structures to form polymers. For example, proteins are the polymers which are made from amino acid monomers. Nucleotides are monomers from which the polymers, DNA and RNA are made. Carbohydrates are made from monomers which are termed as monosaccharides.

    Answer No 6:

Polysaccharides are the simplest form of carbohydrates - False

Monosaccharides are simplest form of carbohydrates. Polysaccharides are large carbohydrates which are made up of units monosaccharides. Hence, this statement is false.

Examples of monosaccharides include simple sugars like glucose. Example of poylsaccharides include complex polymers like chitin and cellulose.
