    Explanation:

    Carbohydrate metabolism is regulated by hormones secreted by the pancrease, insulin and glucagon. When insulin is secreted, it causes low blood glucose by stimulating cells, to absorb it for storage (glycogenesis and fat metabolism). This results in protein, glycogen and fat synthesis.

    So the liver is regulated by and responds to hormonal stimulus for some metabolic reactions to take place.
