4. Decomposers tend to go about their business without being noticed or rewarded for the work they do. Explain the importance of decomposers in ecosystems. Include in your answer the role that mold plays in a forest.

    Answer and Explanation; Decomposers are very important in the return of nutrients from dead organisms and waste back to the ecosystem. Molds break down dead leaves and other plants, enabling the release of nutrients back into the ecosystem. Decomposers break down the organic matter into simpler compounds. it's very important process because complex compounds that build living organisms are not absorbable for other organisms, thus chemical cycling wouldn't be possible and the whole ecosystem would shut down.
