How do mitosis and meiosis differ in terms of the types and numbers of cells produced as well as the genetic contents of the cells after each division?

    To add to this, mitosis produces two identical diploid (2 sets of chromosomes) cells.

    Meiosis is divided into two steps, meiosis I and meiosis II. By the end of meiosis II, there are 4 haploid (1 set of chromosomes) cells.
