Neurotransmitters are chemical messenger that transmit or carry signal from one neuron to a target neuron.

They transmit chemical synapse from one nerve end to another. They are released from the presynaptic vessicle in the synapse into the synaptic cleft. From here, they are received by neurotransmitter receptor on the target cell.
