Biodiversity refers to the quantity of species in an ecosystem, it is important because a ecosystem is like a team of football players and if you don't have for example a Quarterback (a Quarterback in a football team is like an species in an ecosystem) all the team will be broken, and it changes all natural behave of the animals and plants in the ecosystem. The change in the biodiversity of a place also could destroy all the ecosystem.

That's why biodiversity is so important, because every species that is in a ecosystem naturally, is necesary for the right function of the environment.
