What are all of the different stages in a cell's life cycle?

Similar to the living organism, the cell also has life stages, which can be divided into two stages - the interphase and the division stage.

During interphase, the cellular organization is in constant activity, producing various substances, performing chemical and physical processes and performing their functions, thus contributing to the survival of the organism and the individual, consequently.

We can divide this interphase period into three phases - G1 or G0, S and G2.

G1 or G0 - is the period immediately after cell formation. When in G0, the cell receives no stimulus to start a new division, it is exclusively to perform its cellular activity. Neurons are examples of cells that remain in G0. The cells that present in G1 go through periods of growth, differentiation and production of substances such as proteins. S - In the synthesis phase, we have that the cell, even performing its metabolic functions, starts the process of duplication of its genetic material, DNA. At the end of this step, the cell will have all its duplicate DNA and then move on to the next phase, G2. G2 - esta fase se caracteriza pela produção de substâncias que irão contribuir para a formação das duas novas células que serão formadas, assim, todas as organelas devem ser duplicadas.

At the end of period G2, the cell moves to the division step. In case of division for formation of somatic (non-reproductive) cells will occur the process of mitosis, but in case of formation of germ cells (reproductive - sperm or egg) we will have the meiosis process.

In both division processes, mitosis or meiosis, new cells will form at the end of the process. The cells formed by the mitosis process will be equal to each other and to the parent cell that originated them, whereas the cells formed by the meiosis process will be different from each other.
