Letter E. both C and D. Pyruvate or derivates serves ad the terminal electron acceptor and this process produced less energy than aerobic respiration.

    Explanation:

The final product of glycolysis (the break of one molecule of glucose) is the pyruvate. In aerobic conditions this pyruvate can enter into other pathways like the Krebs cycle, obtaining 38 ATP molecules. On the other hand, in anaerobic conditions pyruvate only can enter the fermentative pathway leading into products like ethanol or acid lactic, which act as terminal electron acceptor. This fermentation process only produces 2 ATP molecules.
