    Radio carbon dating, visual examination

    Explanation:

Sedimentary rocks are formed in layers over several years of deposition one after another so that the layers of the rocks do not mix with the other layers and are apparently different.

The sedimentary rock when deposited at once would have no layers in the rock and would have almost same kind of composition throughout.

This can also be verified by radio carbon dating other than by physical examination.

Different layers of the sedimentary rock will have different age upon determination.
