Analogous structures can be defined as those structures which have been evolved in the living organisms that exhibit similar function but different in structure and origin. The bacterial flagella is group of thread like structure that are used for locomotion by the bacterial cell. The structures analogous for the bacterial flagella are flippers in the whales and dolphins, joined legs of insects and vertebrates used for the locomotion, and fins of fishes.
