Answer is D: Radioactive dating is a technique to determine the age of the mineral specimen or rock. The radioactive element decays with time. Half life is used to measure how much decay has occurred. If half life of a radioactive element is 5 years, then half of the radioactive element would decay in the first five years. So by looking at the amount of radioactive substance still remaining in the rock we calculate the age of the rock.
