    1. Body cells divide because of

    a) growth: cells divide in order to grow and get larger

    b) replace: almost millions of cells die each day. To replace those cells the body cells divide

    c) reproduce: body cells divide in order to reproduce more cells

    2. Mitosis: the type of cell division in which two daughter cells each having the same number and kind of chromosomes arise from a single parent cell.

    3. Meiosis: the type of cell division that results in four daughter cells each with half number of chromosomes of parent cells as in the production of gametes (sex cells) and plant spores.
