The nucleus is surrounded by a semipermeable membrane. What would happen if this later were permeable to most substances

    If the nuclear membrane were more permeable the genetic material within the nucleus would scater throughout the cell. This would cause chaos during mitosis, leading to daughter cells with random amounts of mismatch chromosomes.
