    Movement and phagocytosis.

For movement, think of the pseudopodia as makeshift arms or legs reaching and pulling where the amoeba 'wants' to go.

For phagocytosis, they can also surround their food and basically engulf it within the amoeba's own cytoplasm. That's why the amoeba, along with other protists immune cells you have in your body are called phagocytes.
