7. Today you examined species diversity in one relatively simple environment. Suppose you were estimating the number of beetles in Northern California. Explain why it might matter if this part of the state had dry areas, swampy areas, mountains, forests, and meadows all within its boundaries.

    The more the diversity in a location, the more is the diversity in organisms.

    Explanation:

    Every area has a specific environment which is favorable for the survival of particular species adapted to live in that environment.

    If there is such diversity in North California's environment, we will find that the population of beetles will be abundant in areas which are favorable for the survival of the beetle population. It may happen that with the passage of time, the beetle population might evolve and adapt to live in other areas too. Changes in habitat makes species diversity favorable.
