    1. water-to sustain condensation in the glass wall and to prevent wilting.

2, the layer of soil inside should be well mixed or replenished to reduce loss of microorganisms or to prevent microbia damages and to maintain good growing conditions.

They are abiotic or non-living resources,

if these resources were not replenish - no water would be available from condensation of evaporated water from the soil in the terrarium, and the plant will wither

If the soil is not mixed aeration will be poor, microorganisms will die, and good growing conditions will not be provided for growth.

Generally a saleable glass container or open glass container which contain plants growing on a layer of soil, which can be accessible for maintenance is called Terrarium.
