Desertification is generally defined as the conversion of land into a desert type of land. It degrades the land or soil quality. This desertification takes place because of the changing climatic patterns, and due to various human activities.

The consequences of desertification are as follows-

    1) The fertility of the soil decreases so it becomes difficult for farming.

    2) The area converts into a desert land.

    3) The water quality decreases because of the absence of plants. Plants play a key role in maintaining water quality.

    4) Due to the dry type of climate, the farmers cannot cultivate. As a result of which they have to starve. This lacking of food and other essential elements makes people difficult to live. So, poverty arises.
