In what type of organisms would you expect to find n-acetyltalosaminuronic acid as a constituent of the cell wall material?

    Answer is Bacteria

    Unlike eukaryotic cell wall which is made of cellulose, the bacteria cell wall is a complex structure. It is made of a substance called peptidoglycan and is also known as murein. Peptidoglycan hasn't been found anywhere else on Earth, other than the cell walls of bacteria. Peptidoglycan composed of the two sugars are N-acetylglucosamine (NAG) and N-acetylmuramic (NAM) acid.

    I would expect to find n-acetyltalosaminuronic acid as a constituent of the cell wall material in Bacteria. The main part of the bacterial cell wall is peptidoglycan or murein. The spine of the peptidoglycan particle is made of two glucose derivatives which are N-acetylglucosamine (NAG) and N-acetlymuramic acid (NAM) including a pentapeptide coming off NAM and changing lightly between bacteria. The NAG and NAM strands are manufactured in the cytosol of the bacteria. They are combined by inter-peptide links.
