The lumen of the small intestine allows smaller molecules to pass down the walls of small intestine. The Glycerol, protein, and the long chain fatty acids cannot pass through the wall of the small intestine, so, they are first broken down into simpler molecules and then they are absorbed through the lumen of the small intestine to blood.
