Carbo dioxide gets trapped in the atmosphere of the earth, and heats it up.

Carbon dioxide traps the heat just like the glass roof and walls of a greenhouse. Becuase it's transparent, sunlight shines through and warms up the ground, but the heat can't get out because of carbon dioxide so it gets trapped. And the reflected sunlight gets trapped too. So when carbon dioxide keeps getting into the atmosphere, the more the temperature will rise.
