    Thermal energy is transferred by convection from hot places to cold places. It is form of "kinetic energy" that is transferred as heat. When the hot liquid or gas becomes cool liquid or gas then convection happens. Then the cooler gas or liquid will goes to the place of hotter gas or liquid. This results in a "continuous circulation sequence".

    "Water boiling" in a beaker is one of good examples of these "convection currents". Atmosphere is also example of convection. The Earth surface gets heat by sun the warm or hot air rises and cool air moves in. Other options are incorrect as thermal energy transfers from warm to cool places by convection.
