Invent a new type of mutation and a new environmental condition that might affect

this population of animals. How might natural selection operate on a population with

this new mutation and new condition? How would the population change over time?

    I made this for rabbits.

    A new type of environmental change might be an increase in the amount of snow, resulting in deeper, lighter snow. A mutation for the population of rabbits might belarger, wider feet for easier travel in the snowy environment. Natural selection would likely select for this trait, as it would allow the animals to travelwithin their environment more easily, and would allow them to become more efficient atevading predators. As the population changed over time, we would likely see a gradual increase in thenumber of animals with the large, wide foot trait as the environment selected for it, andas predators selected against the slower animals with smaller feet who are more proneto sinking into the snow.
