Boys who develop the condition of hypogonadism may not go through puberty properly. This would occur because the testes would not produce the required amount of testosterone. This hormone is required for the developments that occur during puberty. Therefore, they may not develop some or all of the secondary sex characteristics. The body also requires testosterone to produce sperm. Adult men with this condition may have lower than average sperm count, which may result in infertility.
