Answer: D. create a new individual through mitotic growth

    Explanation:

Asexual reproduction is a form of reproduction of an already developed living being in which from a cell or a group of cells, a complete individual, genetically identical to the first, develops by mitotic processes. It is carried out with a single parent and without the intervention of the nuclei of the sex cells or gametes.

The simplest cellular organisms reproduce by a process known as fission or excision, in which the stem cell fragments into two or more daughter cells, losing its original identity. In certain multicellular animals, such as celiacs, sponges and tunicates, cell division is performed by buds. These originate in the body of the stem organism and then separate to develop into new organisms identical to the first. This process, known as budding, is analogous to the process of vegetative reproduction in plants. It occurs in plants when a part of them divides (stem, branch, sprout, tuber, rhizome) and develops separately until it becomes a new plant.

Plants have amazing regenerative capacities, being able to form new organs from tissues after embryogenesis. The aerial explants, generally segments of stem or leaves, can regenerate roots, allowing them to form a complete plant and survive.
