Why did president Washington want the United States to remain neutral

    Because he saw that if (at the time) America had gotten into a war, we would have lost many of our resources, along with the fact that he was the kind of man that hated conflict. The men that he saw die during the war had proven, in his eyes, that war was truly no good for the human race as a whole.
