If a large quantity of herbicide, a chemical that is designed to kill weeds, were accidentally spilled into a large lake, it could endanger all of the organisms living in the lake. State one way the effects of killing the weeds in the lake could be destructive to populations of fish and other animals.

    Since it is likely that the weeds in the lake act as a food source for organisms within that ecosystem, killing all the weeds would harm the population that feeds off them, and in turn the populations that feed off of them.
