The invasive exotic species are the second most devastating threat to biodiversity next to habitat destruction because these species, when introduced to a new location or habitat, they compete with the local native species for resources. They are responsible for limiting the abundance of native species, by either killing the native species or making such a condition the native species needs to migrate to new location. They may also be responsible for extinction of native species.
