    By studying the bacterial transformation, Avery and other scientists proved that DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) is responsible to store and transmit genetic information from one bacteria to another.

    A gene refers to the protein coding sequence of the DNA.

    It is transferred from one bacteria to another through the process of transformation and give that bacteria certain properties such as antibiotic resistance.
