Accutane is a form of vitamin A (retinoid) used for the treatment of severe acne. Accutane works by minimizing the amount of oil produced by oil glands in the skin, and it also assist the skin to renew itself rapidly. Acne is given when other acne medications are not working. The use of Accutane during pregnancy can be harmful to the growing fetus. Accutane cause extremely high risk of severe birth defects such as facial dysmorphia and fetal deaths.
