    Homologous structures are those structures of organisms that have a similar embryonic or evolutionary origin i. e. share common ancestors. For example, the wings of a bat and the arm of humans are homologous structures because they are found to be from the same evolutionary origin. Although, they appear different and perform different functions but using genetical means (DNA), they have been found to share a common ancestor.

    On the other hand, analogous structures are structures that perform similar functions and are physically similar but they evolved from different evolutionary origins.
