Answer and explanation; The process of sugaring of lipids and proteins is known as glycosylation. This process involves addition of glucose onto certain proteins and lipids resulting to glyco-proteins, and glyco-lipids respectively. During the process of glycosylation, enyzmes use phosphorylated glucose to power the formationof new bond by coupling it with breaking of the glucose-phosphate bond. More than 60 percent of all proteins and many lipids in the cells are bound to sugar molecules, including antibodies, some hormones, and many other cellular enzymes, and plasma membrane lipids. Glyco-proteins and glyco-lipids are important in cell-cell communication.
